Correctional / Prison Facility Registered Nurse Madison, WI
This position involves providing comprehensive inpatient medical care to adult and geriatric patients within a correctional facility setting. The role requires collaboration with correctional officers and adherence to specialized training for the forensic patient population, with a focus on acute and chronic conditions, including Department of Corrections inmates from Wisconsin.

Job Details

• Shift Schedule: Rotating shifts, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Active RN license; BLS certification; minimum of 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in an inpatient setting; experience starting intravenous lines; proficiency with electronic health record systems (EPIC); experience with adult, med/surg, telemetry, and forensic patient populations; ability to pass a telemetry test prior to start.
• Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge nurse experience and community hospital experience.
• Responsibilities: Provide patient care for adult and geriatric inpatient populations with a variety of diagnoses; manage telemetry monitoring, IV therapy, wound care, and medication administration; assist with special procedures including port management, PCA, PICC lines, and wound vacs; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory services and social work; work in a secure environment with Department of Corrections patients, including a locked wing with a double door, always accompanied by correctional officers.
• Certifications: BLS required.
