Job Summary
The organization is seeking an Admission and Transfer Center Registered Nurse specializing in Administration at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital. This role involves coordinating patient admissions, transfers, and discharges across multiple healthcare facilities, ensuring efficient patient flow and adherence to regulatory standards. The position requires a proactive approach to patient placement and excellent communication skills in a high-pressure environment.

Job Details

• Location: Aspirus Wausau Hospital
• Shift Schedule: Rotating, 12-hour days or nights with variable start times (7am, 11am, 1pm, and 7pm)
• Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
• Certifications: Wisconsin Registered Nurse License, AHA or ARC Basic Life Support
• Qualifications: Associate Degree or Certificate, a minimum of 3-5 years ICU or Emergency Room experience (5 years preferred), Trauma level II experience required, Transfer Call Center experience highly preferred, EPIC charting experience required.
• Responsibilities include facilitating consults and patient transfers for 16 Aspirus hospitals, coordinating admissions from healthcare facilities, following protocols and policies related to emergency medical treatment, and optimizing patient flow across the healthcare system.
• Critical thinking skills are essential to determine the best patient care course while ensuring proper placement and transfer procedures.
• Remotely engages with facility staff to monitor transfer needs, document processes accurately, and advocate for patient priorities through chain of command.
• Utilizes emergency department experience and critical care knowledge to triage patient needs and provide expert recommendations for transfers based on acuity, service requirements, and facility capacity.
• Collaborates closely with bed planning teams at tertiary care sites to manage patient movement and improve patient experience.
• During flu season, policies require mask-wearing for unvaccinated travelers.
