Mental Health Counselor / Psychiatric Unit

Job Summary
Psychiatric Unit Mental Health Clinician Rikers Island. This position involves providing clinical mental health services to incarcerated adult men, including conducting mental health evaluations, crisis intervention, assessments, and follow-up care. The role requires coordination of patient care, discharge planning, documentation, and participation in clinical supervision and treatment planning activities in a correctional health setting.

Job Details

• Schedule: 8:00 AM 4:00 PM; Minimum 37.5 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Master`s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field; New York State License in Social Work, License in Mental Health Counseling, or licensure in Psychology; 1 year of relevant experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience conducting assessments and treatment with adults with behavioral problems, substance use histories, and severe mental illness; inpatient or related experience.
• Additional Information: Candidates must complete required documentation and participate in clinical supervision weekly. Duties include mental health evaluations, crisis intervention, assessments, follow-up care, discharge planning, psychological testing, and collaboration with correctional staff. May supervise interns or volunteers as assigned.
