Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical Vascular Floor

Job Description

Job Summary:
Vascular Medical Surgical Nurse specializing in vascular floor units, in a healthcare organization. This position involves providing direct patient care to adult and geriatric populations with various conditions, including cardiac, neuro, oncology, renal, and post-surgical patients. The role requires flexibility to float across multiple units and delivering care during night shifts.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. The schedule is created by leadership for six weeks at a time, with traveler candidates expected to be flexible to help fill gaps in the permanent schedule. All time off requests should be submitted prior to the start of the assignment.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association); minimum of 2 years of recent Medical Surgical Vascular Floor experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Prior neuro experience is highly preferred.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required into various acuity levels, including intensive care units, progressive care units, step-down units, and Medical Surgical Telemetry units.
  • Additional Information:
    • Candidates must be available for orientation prior to assignment, with 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor.
    • The hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for shorter assignments.
    • Bloodborne Pathogen Standard (BSN) submission is required; license submission is necessary prior to start.
    • No specific trauma level designation.
    • EMR system used is EPIC.
    • Night shift with 6-9 weekend shifts scheduled every six weeks.
    • Rare standby or call requirements, with potential to float into other acuity levels as needed.
    • Scrub color is flexible unless specified by the unit.
    • Candidates must be in the state for the week of orientation even if some modules are remote.
