Registered Nurse / Nurse Manager Psych

Job Summary:
Psychiatric Nurse Manager opportunity located in Bronx, NY. This role involves overseeing clinical operations within a 40-bed psychiatric unit, providing leadership for a team of registered nurses and support staff. The position emphasizes staff coordination, patient care quality, and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced behavioral health environment.

Job Details:

• Position: Nurse Manager Psych (Psychiatry with Med-Surg Experience)
• Location: Bronx, NY
• Shift Schedule: 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM, 7.5 hours per shift, minimum of 37.5 hours per week
• Start Date: 09/16/2026
• Required Qualifications: Certification on Psychiatry Mental Health Nursing; BLS (American Heart Association); ACLS (American Heart Association); PALS (American Heart Association); De-escalation Training; 1 year of psychiatric experience; at least some medical experience preferred (e.g., medical-surgical, telemetry, ICU); ability to identify major cardiac rhythms.
• Preferred Qualifications: MSN degree; certification in Psychiatry Mental Health Nursing.
• Additional Information:
  • Responsible for managing a psychiatric unit accommodating up to 40 patients with mental health needs.
  • Role includes supervising nursing staff, ensuring regulatory adherence, and improving patient safety and satisfaction.
  • Orientation includes 3 weeks of classroom and unit-specific training.
  • May be asked to float to inpatient units as needed.
  • No IV medication administration; IM injections and PO medications handled.
  • Staff includes multidisciplinary team with physicians, nurse aides, RT, and PCTs.
  • On-site RT available for breathing treatments and respiratory assistance, equipped for intubation but transfer patients out when necessary.
  • No cardiac monitoring; staff trained to identify life-threatening rhythms.
  • Shift may involve working every other weekend and potentially participating in holiday rotations.
