Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in an acute care setting. The role involves caring for a diverse patient population, including surgical patients, sickle cell, and general medical cases. The unit emphasizes a collaborative, patient-centered approach, requiring strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license in the state, BLS certification, NIHSS certification, 2 years of experience in stepdown, telemetry, or higher level of care encompassing medical-surgical, stepdown, or transitional care. Experience with blood administration, wound management, PCA pain management, high flow oxygen therapy, stable BiPAP, and use of electronic medical records (Cerner) and specific equipment (e.g., Sera steady, Arjo lifts, kangaroo pump).
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in oncology, post-operative care, or complex surgical patients is highly valued.
- Additional Information: Orientation includes a 24-hour facility orientation (spread over three days) and one 12-hour shift at the end of week one plus another at the start of week two. The unit culture is highly collaborative and supportive, with a focus on exceptional patient care. The unit has a diverse staffing support structure including CNAs, receptionists, charge nurses, vascular access teams, sepsis and rapid response teams, and 24/7 specialist and intensivist coverage. Staff will scrub in with a galaxy blue uniform, and onsite parking is provided with badge access. The shift begins at 7:00 PM, with clock-in permissible at 6:53 PM, and staff are required to attend the 7:00 PM huddle.
