Registered Nurse / Intensive Care Unit

Job Summary:
The ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nurse position is located in an acute care setting overseeing a 33-bed unit with an average daily census of 16 patients. This role involves managing a variety of critical conditions such as trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, stroke, respiratory distress, and vascular cases. The position requires providing advanced patient care, including titration of cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation, while utilizing their critical care expertise to monitor and interpret physiological data.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, with work hours from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM or 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM, minimum of 36 hours per week. Self-scheduling is available for core staff, while travelers may be assigned shifts without guarantee of block scheduling.
• Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, at least 2 years of recent ICU experience, certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with GE monitors, ability to interpret and document strips, and familiarity with acute critical care procedures.
• Additional Information: Candidates must have a valid drivers license, comply with fingernail policy prohibiting artificial nails in patient-care departments, and pass a pass/fail skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%. Candidates are expected to work weekends on an every-other basis and participate in at least 2 holiday shifts within the contract period. Upfront RTO of 7 days or less is required; additional RTO requests will not be approved. Orientation includes one shift specific to the department. Floating to PCU or MedSurg units may occur, with patient ratios of 1:4 or 1:5 on those units. The charting system used is EPIC, and the shift start date is 10/12/2026, ending on 01/11/2027.
