Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Specialty Nurse Location unspecified. This role involves providing high-quality surgical nursing care in a Level I trauma center, supporting a variety of service lines excluding cardiovascular. The position requires experienced professionals to deliver safe and effective patient care during 12-hour day shifts, including weekends, with on-call responsibilities.

Job Details

  • Position: Operating Room (OR) NurseSpecialty: Surgery
  • Schedule: Days, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours minimum per week, from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, including weekends on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
  • Required Certifications: BLS; CNOR preferred
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of perioperative nursing experience required, including Level I trauma experience and general surgery cases such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple procedure, organ donation, and others listed
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables, and sterile techniques
  • Clinical Support: Support for all service lines except cardio-vascular, with prior experience in trauma, laparoscopic procedures, neuro, orthopedic, plastic, urology, and emergency management procedures including code response and fire safety
  • Licensing and Certification: Active Illinois nursing license or in application process; required certifications must be included at submission; RQI cards are not accepted
  • Additional Notes: Will work with all service lines except cardiovascular; Cerner experience preferred; Level I trauma experience is mandatory; candidate must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; must review and confirm availability for scheduled shifts and RTO requests; on-call involvement required once per week, typically minimal; shift may include working holidays, with two of three major holidays required.
