Registered Nurse / Progressive Care Unit

Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a community-based hospital located in an urban area. This position involves providing care for general medical patients requiring continuous monitoring of cardiac, respiratory, hemodynamic, and neurologic status. The role emphasizes managing patients post-interventional procedures, post-surgical care, and patients with various cardiac and respiratory conditions.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), BLS certification, ACLS certification, NIHSS certification, at least 1 year of experience in cardiac telemetry or progressive care nursing, and certification or experience with cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Patients with NSTEMI or post-STEMI, post-cardiac intervention, thoracic surgery, heart failure, post-stroke care, and respiratory failure requiring medium or high flow oxygen or non-invasive positive pressure ventilation.
• Support Within the Department: CNA, Charge nurse, Rapid Response Team, Hospitalist 24/7, Telemetry monitoring.
• Technology/Equipment: EPIC electronic medical record system, Baxter IV pumps, Philips Intellivue monitors, arterial lines, and unit-specific invasive blood pressure monitoring interfaces.
• Orientation: 36 hours during the first week including online training, with a 12-hour departmental orientation with an RN preceptor.
• Scheduling & Additional Notes: Every other weekend rotation, no on-call requirement, working 75% of holidays, resource team approval needed for time off, scrubs in royal blue, free parking, and a positive, team-focused unit culture with high-tech, high-touch environment.
• Float: Float within the critical care division or intermediate care.
