Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Open Heart Surgical Technologist position located in the specified location. This role involves providing safe patient care following established standards within a health care facility. The role requires collaboration with the surgical team, maintaining asepsis, performing scrubbing duties, and ensuring the use of equipment and supplies during surgical procedures.
Job Details
- Position Description: To provide safe care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with professional and hospital standards. Contacts include patients, families, physicians, employees, and visitors. Assists in planning patient care, collaborating with other health team members, and participating in performance improvement activities. Acts as a support during surgical procedures without functioning as a surgical assistant and maintains asepsis. Communicates effectively and supports teamwork within the department and units. Performs clinical preceptor duties for scrubbing and follows orientation guidelines. Maintains cleanliness and equipment care in the unit.
- Schedule: Dayshift, 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week, including 2-3 weekday calls and every 3rd-4th weekend call, from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
- Required Qualifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or equivalent educational/training program, BLS certification, minimum 1 year of OR experience with cardiovascular and hybrid procedures, high school diploma or GED, completion of an approved surgical technology training program or military training program, valid certification, and licensure as applicable.

- Additional Information: Must have CVOR experience, be NBSTSA certified, with knowledge of organizational policies, safety procedures, and effective communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. The role involves frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue, with potential exposure to infectious materials and blood-borne pathogens.
