Registered Nurse / Post Anesthesia Care Unit

Job Summary
PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Nurse San Antonio, TX. This position involves providing post-anesthesia recovery care in a busy PACU environment with a focus on patient safety and satisfaction. The role requires working during night shifts, with ongoing coverage to support patient recovery following surgical procedures.

Job Details

• Location: San Antonio, TX
• Schedule: Night shift, Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 PM 7:30 AM, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS); candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU); ICU level of care competency is preferred.
• Preferred Qualifications: Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) and Trauma Certified (TCAR) are considered a plus.
• Unit Information:
  • Number of Beds: 18 bays
  • Number of Staff: 25
  • Type of Staff:
    • Day Shift: 1 Certified Nurse of the Operating Room (CNOR), 11 Registered Nurses (RNs), 1 Patient Care Technician (PCT)
    • Night Shift: Currently 2 RNs on call, shifting to 24/7 coverage; this position will ensure at least 1 nurse in-house during night hours with additional on-call backup for night cases.
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1 for the first 30 minutes or ICU level of care; 2:1 when stable
  • Equipment: Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system Meditech Magic
• Additional Information: This is a vacant position with a start date of 10/19/2026 and end date of 01/18/2027. Candidates should be proactive team players and comfortable working in a fast-paced recovery setting.
