Registered Nurse / Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular

Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH) position in a hospital setting involves caring for complex cardiac patients, including those with recent open-heart surgeries and mixed ICU diagnoses. The role is suitable for experienced registered nurses prepared to work in a fast-paced critical care environment with a focus on patient safety and quality outcomes. The position requires flexibility in floating between units and adherence to hospital protocols and standards.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, starting at 6:45 AM and ending at 7:15 PM. Schedules are made approximately six weeks in advance and involve self-scheduling, subject to managerial review. Staff work every other weekend, with no holiday requirement at this time but may be scheduled to work holidays.
• Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, willingness to wait for licensure, certifications including ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support). Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant ICU experience, recent experience with fresh open-heart surgery patients, and experience with mixed ICU patient populations.

• Float: Float rotation may be required; staff may be scheduled to different tele, step-down, or medical-surgical units with one day of specific unit orientation.
• Additional Information: Candidates must have recent experience with open-heart patients and a strong background in critical care. The unit is a Cardiac ICU with 30 beds, utilizing Cerner charting system. The team includes hospitalists and intensivists on-site 24/7, with continuous RT and pharmacy support. The role involves working in a 2-level trauma setting with acuity focused on cardiovascular care.
