Job Summary
Labor and Delivery Nurse, located in the healthcare facility, provides specialized care to women during high-risk labor and delivery, including the postpartum period. This role involves functioning as a Baby Nurse during delivery and continuing neonatal care until transfer to postpartum, supporting high-volume obstetric units with fast-paced, high-acuity environments.

Job Details

  • Certifications: Required: Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); Preferred: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate
  • Education/Experience: At least 1 year of relevant experience in high-risk labor and delivery, with previous charge experience preferred.
  • Location Requirements: Valid state license, compact license in hand at submission; local radius 50 miles.
  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week.
  • Responsibilities: Support midwifery clients, private OBs, and adult recovery services, with duties including high-risk deliveries, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) assistance, electronic fetal monitoring, and neonatal care including assessment, eye care, thigh assessment, and administering medications such as Vitamin K.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required, including to sister facilities supporting antepartum, postpartum, and NICU.
  • Submission Requirements: Candidates must respond to prior employment at Providence facilities, provide two references covering one year (six months for Certified Nursing Assistants) in the last three years, and have a compact license.
  • Additional: Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with skills in high-risk obstetrics procedures and neonatal care.
