Job Summary
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nurse in a healthcare facility. This role involves providing specialized care during high-risk deliveries, functioning as a Baby Nurse, and supporting newborns and their mothers throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum. The position requires high acuity skills in a fast-paced environment, with floating to sister facilities as needed.
Job Details
- Certifications: ACLS*, AWHONN Advanced*, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP
- Education Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; experience in labor and delivery required; 1 year of experience preferred
- Location Requirements: Valid state license; compact license must be in hand at submission; within 50 miles of the facility
- Years of Experience: 1.0
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum 48 hours per week
- Float: Float rotation may be required. Postpartum / Antepartum float to sister facilities that support Mother/Baby.
- Responsibilities: Provide direct patient care for high-risk obstetric cases; assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries; monitor fetal heart rates with electronic fetal monitoring; support maternal and newborn assessments; respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns; assist with high-risk delivery procedures; manage postpartum care, including Lochia and perineum assessments; perform newborn care including eyes, thigh assessments, and injections; ensure adherence to AWHONN guidelines and protocols; document patient information accurately using EPIC electronic health records; and support interdisciplinary teams with ancillary services.
- Submission Requirements: Must include responses to whether the candidate has previously worked at a Providence facility as a permanent employee, on a travel contract, or as registry/per-diem, including location and dates worked. Two references covering 1 year (6 months for CNAs) within the last 3 years are required prior to start.
