Job Summary
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse in the outpatient setting. The position involves providing specialized nursing care in a high-acuity environment, with the flexibility to float among various units including PCU, Observation, Overflow, Medical, and Surgical floors. The role requires proficiency in neuro assessments, cardiac drips, and interpretation of ECG strips to support patients with acute and complex conditions.
Job Details
- Position Description: Will be required to float to all PCU/Tele units within the healthcare provider. Floating to other units to care will be within or below scope.
- Number of Beds: PCU 36; Medical 36; Overflow 11; Observation 15; Surgical 42
- Certifications and Qualifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required. 1-2 years of experience as long as proficient with neuro assessments and basic cardiac drips. Must have experience with Cardizem, Amio, and Heparin drips. Epic experience and prior travel experience are required. Ability to read and interpret strips, pass ECG exam, and perform EKG.
- Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with neuro assessments, cardiac drips, and ECG interpretation.
- Additional Information: The role involves working in a fast-paced environment with patient ratios typically at 1:4 to 1:5, with rare ratios extending to 1:6. Floating may include short-term assignments to ICU and Emergency Room to meet hospital needs. Must be flexible to work where needed, including weekends, holidays, and overtime if required.
- Submission Requirements: Candidates should be proficient with tele monitoring, including interpreting monitors and performing EKG. Orientation comprises three shifts across different units, in addition to general facility orientation.
