Registered Nurse / Psychiatric Unit

Job Summary:
Psychiatric Unit specialty position located in Kansas City, MO. This role involves providing mental health support on a 12-hour night shift, with a focus on patient assessment, care planning, medication management, and crisis intervention. The position requires a commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care in a dynamic psychiatric environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, including weekends.
• Required Qualifications: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI); ability to assess patients` mental health status, develop individualized care plans, and manage psychiatric medications; experience working with psychiatric patients, including crisis intervention, de-escalation, and therapeutic communication skills.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with psychiatric medication monitoring and behavioral problem management.
• Additional Information: The unit serves patients from 12 to 18 years old in the adolescent unit, with adult and senior units also included. The team follows ICARE valuesintegrity, compassion, always, and respectand utilizes AIDET communication techniques. The facility uses the Meditech documentation system and policies such as unit-specific guidelines and on-call protocols are in place.
