Registered Nurse / Labor And Delivery Department

Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Department nurse position in a maternity unit. The role involves providing care to patients 32 weeks and above, including high-risk pregnancies such as preeclampsia, diabetics, and social issues. The position requires independently attending deliveries, circulating during cesarean sections, and assisting with neonatal transition, following established clinical guidelines.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) license; BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification; a minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with intermediate or advanced Electronic Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM).
• Patient Population: Patients 32 weeks gestation and above, including high-risk cases such as preeclampsia, diabetic, and social/psych issues with substance use.
• Skills & Experience: Must have LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) experience. Ability to attend deliveries independently, circulate during cesarean sections, assist with neonatal catching, and transition.
• Drips & Titration: RNs may be required to titrate magnesium, Pitocin, and insulin.
• Team & Support Staff: Charge nurse or house supervisor (with the charge nurse assigning tasks), surgical techs, patient care assistants, neonatologists, OB/hospitalists, neonatal nurse practitioners, and anesthesia providers available 24/7.
• Monitoring & Equipment: Telemetry monitors (brand as specified), electronic fetal monitoring system (Centricity-perinatal), and in-house OB anesthesia.
• Additional Details: Self-scheduling when requested; every other weekend work (Saturday and Sunday), rotating holidays, standby with a response time of 45 minutes. No floating outside of the maternal unit; staff must be adaptable to workflows, policies, and feedback. Orientation includes 8 hours of unit-based education and EPIC training, plus 2-3 shifts of unit-specific orientation.
