Registered Nurse / Emergency Room

Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurseon nights in a busy adult and pediatric Level 2 Trauma Center located in a hospital setting. The role involves providing acute care for patients with diverse conditions including chest pain, abdominal pain, sepsis, and more. Responsibilities include triage, administering various drips, and working within a comprehensive emergency department team.

Job Details:

• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, with options to work day shifts if needed.
• Schedule: Shifts run for a minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 10/26/2026 and concluding on 01/25/2027.
• Required Qualifications: Certifications in ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale), PALS (American Heart Association), and TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course). Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of ER experience, pediatric experience, and ideally, experience with Cerner Electronic Health Record system and Level 1 or 2 trauma environments.
• Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of common drips such as Heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, and others; experience with pediatric emergency care; trauma experience highly valued.
• Additional Information:
  • Triage duties are performed by all nurses, with dedicated triage bays and responsibilities for ambulance and walk-in patients.
  • No separate ER hold area; holds are intermixed within the ER.
  • Security is in-house 24/7 but not housed within the department; quick response from law enforcement is available.
  • Patient volume ranges from 140 to 180 patients daily, with nurse-to-patient ratios of approximately 1:3 in ER.
  • Multidisciplinary team includes ED physicians, nurse practitioners, and physicians assistants.
  • Equipment such as ventilators, Cpap, BiPap, and high-flow O2 are used, with RNs troubleshooting and calling RT (Respiratory Therapy) when needed.
  • X-ray and CT imaging are available within the department.
  • Phlebotomy and blood draws are performed by RNs or blood culture teams; blood cultures may be drawn by RNs or techs if phlebotomy cannot arrive quickly.
  • No on-call requirement; standby may occur if censused low.
  • Orientation includes three days of training, involving computer-based and on-unit shadowing with preceptors.
  • The clinician`s prior employment with the organization must have ended at least 6 months before submission.
  • Scrubs must be solid color, clean, and professional.
