Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical With Telemetry

Job Summary:
Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE) nursing position is located in an organizations neuro medical unit. The role involves caring for neuro and neuro-surgical patients, including cerebrovascular accidents (CVAs), elective back and neck surgeries, and cerebral angiograms. The position requires a strong focus on neuro assessments, critical thinking, and the ability to manage overflow medical patients in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour days, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license, American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS), AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Minimum two years of experience in medical-surgical or telemetry nursing, with at least one travel assignment. Neuro experience required. Recent Electronic Medical Record (EPIC) charting experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor`s Degree in Nursing.
• Float: Float rotation may be required to medical units, with a ratio of 1:4 or 1:5 on primary care units.
• Additional Information:
  • The unit has 22 beds with a patient ratio of 1:4.
  • The nurse will need to perform neuro assessments, NIHSS/dysphagia screens, telemetry interpretation, strict I & Os, straight catheterization, Foley insertions, titrate heparin infusions, manage blood and blood products, venipuncture, blood cultures, NG tubes, indwelling drain management, and administer stable medications such as Protonix and Lasix.
  • On call or callback is not required.
  • Candidates must be resilient, social, capable of managing change, and hard-working.
  • Scrub color is navy blue.
  • Covid-19 vaccination is not required, but this policy is subject to change.
  • The initial contract length is 13 weeks, starting on 10/05/2026 and ending on 01/03/2027.
  • Orientation hours and holiday rotations apply.
• Interview Days: Monday through Friday, with Manager Phone and MSP Interviews.
• Shift Notes: 12-hour days.
