Registered Nurse / Psychiatric Unit

Job Summary:
Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in adult mental health at a facility. The position involves rotating shifts including days, evenings, and nights, with the flexibility to cover weekends. The RN will provide inpatient psychiatric care to adult patients aged 18 to 65 on a 30-bed unit, managing diverse mental health issues alongside some medically acute patients.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Rotating shifts (7 a.m. to 7 p.m., 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.) with minimum of 36 hours per week. Rotation is not required for night positions.
• Required Qualifications: Active Massachusetts RN License. AHA Basic Life Support (BLS). 2 years minimum of inpatient adult psychiatric experience. Proficient in using automatic medication dispensing systems (Omni Cell); skilled in psychotropic medications and side effects. Able to assume the role of charge nurse; competent in completing admissions and discharges. Experienced in IV pump use and caring for diabetic patients.

• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information: The facility`s adult psych unit treats patients with a range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, dual diagnosis patients, and some who are medically acute (IVs, CPAPs, wound care, diabetic care). The electronic medical record (EMR) system used is EPIC. The RN will be responsible for providing high-quality mental health care in a dynamic setting.
