Registered Nurse / Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Job Summary
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse located in a hospital setting. This role involves providing specialized care to neonates in a Level III NICU with 22 beds and an open bed concept. The position emphasizes family-centered care, teamwork, and active learning to ensure optimal outcomes for critically ill newborns.

Job Details

• Schedule: Nights shift, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 48 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification; 1 year of neonatal intensive care unit experience preferred, with the ability to titrate drips such as antibiotics, multivitamins, iron, surfactant, TPN, and epinephrine.
• Experience or `Must have` skills: At least 1 year of NICU experience, Level 3-4 NICU experience preferred, must be able to titrate drips.
• Unit Details: The NICU handles diagnoses including RDS, SGA, prematurity, hypoglycemia, bilirubin, 23 weeks+ gestation, with no surgical or G-tube placements. RNs attend deliveries under 36 weeks, assist with APGARs during deliveries, and manage central lines and bubble CPAP.
• Staffing: A charge nurse is present on each shift to facilitate assignments, and NICU RNs attend deliveries under 36 weeks to assist with APGAR assessments.
• Float: May float to newborn nursery and pediatric units as needed to support staffing.
• Equipment: Bubble CPAP, vents; most babies are not on telemonitoring, reading strips is helpful but not required.
• Additional Notes: The unit features highly skilled providers and a supportive team environment. Successful nurses are active learners, team players, communicative, positive, genuine, and family-centered.
• Start Date: 10/05/2026
• End Date: 01/04/2027
• Orientation: Two shifts of unit/department-specific orientation provided.
• Other Requirements: RTO needed upfront (7 days or less per 13-week contract); no additional RTO approval after submission.
