Registered Nurse / Psychiatric Unit

Job Summary:
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in a mental health facility located in Kansas City, MO. This role involves providing comprehensive psychiatric care within a specialized inpatient unit, including mental health assessments, care planning, medication management, and crisis intervention. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic, patient-centered environment emphasizing evidence-based practices and team collaboration.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week, totaling at least 36 hours weekly, with coverage required seven days a week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid psychiatric nurse practitioner certification, BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training, ability to assess patients mental health status, develop care plans, manage psychotropic medications, and provide crisis intervention.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with psychiatric assessments, medication administration, and therapeutic communication skills.
• Float: Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information: The role involves monitoring patients for physical and psychological symptoms, recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders and behavioral issues, and utilizing diagnostic tools. The unit emphasizes integrity, compassion, respect, and effective communication, including the use of the AIDET framework to enhance patient interactions. The position is located within a 24-bed adolescent unit, a 32-bed adult ICU, and other specialized units, with staff experienced in mental health and behavioral health care. Candidates should be flexible, compassionate, and able to work in high-pressure situations.
