Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical Floor

Job Description

Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor (MS) in a healthcare facility situated in Fargo. This role involves providing care to adult medical-surgical patients, including those experiencing behavioral disturbances, in a busy hospital environment. The position requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, adherence to clinical standards, and the ability to manage a variety of patient needs across a large, multi-campus setting.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour day/night rotations, every other weekend and holiday. Shifts may cycle between days and nights based on unit needs, with the flexibility for self-scheduling. Guaranteed days off are specified on the contract; shift swaps are encouraged to accommodate specific requests when possible. Schedule balance is maintained to prevent frequent day/night flipping.
  • Required Qualifications:
    • Minimum of 2 years recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting with 250+ beds
    • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
    • Active RN license in North Dakota or a compact state
    • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) system Epic
    • Level 1 trauma experience and travel experience (not considered if currently on a travel assignment)
    • Experience with Epic EMR system
    • Ability and willingness to float to all medical-surgical units within Fargo, including behavioral patients
    • Experience working in a large hospital environment with high patient acuity
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience working in a busy large hospital environment
    • Skilled in collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams
    • Familiarity with monitor systems such as Philips telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, and infusion devices
  • Additional Information:
    • Unit utilizes equipment like Philips monitors, bladder scanners, and Acuivein.
    • The team uses Epic EMR for charting.
    • Nurse to patient ratio is 5:1 during the day and 6:1 at night.
    • Must badge in/out at the facility, with scrubs in navy blue.
    • No travel candidates living within 60 miles of the facility; local travel rate reduction applies to those living 60-80 miles, with an $8/hour adjustment.
    • Previous employment with the organization requires an end date of at least 6 months prior to submission.
    • The assignment begins on 10/12/2026 and concludes on 01/11/2027, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
