Operating Room Tech / Certified First Surgical Assistant

Job Summary:
The Certified First Surgical Assistant is responsible for performing intraoperative technical duties under the supervision of a surgeon in an operating room setting. Located at a healthcare facility, this role involves assisting with surgical procedures, ensuring proper patient positioning, and managing surgical instruments and equipment. The position requires an organized and attentive professional prepared to work rotating days with scheduled on-call responsibilities.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 10-hour shifts from 6:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.; rotating call on weeknights and weekends. On-call hours include Saturday at 7 a.m. to Monday at 7 a.m. (approximately every 6-8 weeks), and one weeknight of call per week from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications include ACLS, Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Certified First Assistant (CFA). Educational requirements include relevant certifications and a minimum of 0 years of experience. The position is located at a healthcare facility requiring approximately 2-3 months for credentialing and privileges approval.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in orthopedic, total joints, spine, urology, endoscopy, general surgery, gynecology, vascular, and robotics procedures is preferred. Experience with eye cases is considered a plus.
  • Additional Information: The surgical assistant will support the surgical team by aiding in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and patient positioning, while utilizing appropriate technique and equipment in the operating room environment.
