Registered Nurse / Intensive Care Unit

Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position located in an acute care setting. This role involves providing specialized care to critically ill patients with diagnoses such as strokes, ventriculostomies, and post-craniectomy cases. The position requires adherence to advanced clinical protocols and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour days shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated, BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association); minimum of 1 year of experience as an RN in an ICU setting.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ventriculostomy, NIH Stroke Scale certification, ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, tPA administration, and acute stroke management.
  • Duties: Provide patient care on a neuro intensive care unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2. Titrate drips as ordered by physicians, troubleshoot ventilators and monitor strips, and collaborate with charge nurses and house supervisors on shift.
  • Additional Information: Pre-orientation of 20 hours is required. Nurses may float to other hospital units, including intermediate and general floors, with ratios of 1:3 or 1:4 depending on the unit. The unit employs Phillips monitors and tele/monitor techs are available on every shift.
  • Shift Notes: The assignment starts on 09/28/2026 and ends on 01/11/2027.
