Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) registered nurses are sought in a healthcare facility within a highly collaborative and patient-centered environment. These positions involve providing specialized nursing care to adult patients with a wide range of medical conditions, requiring critical thinking, advanced clinical skills, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced setting. Job Details:

  • Location: The position is based in a healthcare organization with a focus on high-quality patient outcomes in a modern, well-equipped facility.
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, scheduled on days with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid nursing licensure, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, 0 years of relevant experience, and proficiency in critical thinking, EKG rhythm interpretation, cardiac drips, insulin drips, heparin drips, and peritoneal dialysis.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with bipaps, high flow oxygen, multiple oxygen delivery systems, stroke, and post-cardiac catheterization care. Additional skills include peripheral IV insertion, wound vac troubleshooting, and NG/dobhoff tube placement.
  • Responsibilities: Providing comprehensive nursing care, performing procedures such as peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, and central line dressings. Ensuring hourly rounding on days and every two hours on nights, practicing effective communication using AIDET, and maintaining accurate documentation via Meditech.
  • Float Policy: May require floating between PCU units or to med-surg floors as needed.
  • Additional Information: The unit features self-scheduling, a "care like family" culture, team-oriented environment, and typically sees travelers extend their contracts after initial assignments. Most positions are filled with 2 to 3 nurses.
