Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) position is based in a healthcare facility specializing in obstetric care. This assignment involves providing comprehensive nursing care to low-risk and high-risk obstetric patients, including stabilizing newborns and managing labor and delivery processes. The role requires adherence to established guidelines and a focus on patient safety and clinical excellence.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; current certifications including Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Electronic Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM); minimum of 2 years of relevant obstetric nursing experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with stabilization of newborns and cardiovascular drips titration; familiarity with Philips fetal monitoring, EPIC, and OBIX systems; ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-acuity setting.
- Float: Float rotation may be required, including helping hands, sitters, or assisting in neonatal care as needed. Float units include obstetrics, neonatal intensive care, and medical-surgical units; however, there is no inpatient behavioral health float for this location.
- Additional Information: The unit manages approximately 647 births per year, follows AWHONN guidelines, and operates with a team of certified OB technicians and a neonatologist on call. The unit is equipped with neonatal high flow nasal cannula, Cpap, Neopuff, and fetal monitoring systems. The orientation period is 1-2 days, and the assignment includes participation in holiday and weekend rotations without designated on-call duties.
