Job Summary:
The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) registered nurse (RN) position is located in the medical intermediate care unit of a healthcare facility in Anchorage, Alaska. This role involves providing high-acuity step-down care to patients, including those with complex clinical needs such as trach patients requiring long-term vent support. The RN will manage a variety of procedures and monitor patient acuity in a fast-paced environment, ensuring high-quality patient care.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license at the time of submission, certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIH-SS). Minimum of 1 year of experience in step-down Intensive Care Units (ICU), Intermediate Care Units (IMC), or Progressive Care Units (PCU), including telemetry/cardiac monitoring.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with tracheostomy patients requiring BiPap or long-term ventilation, managing titratable drips such as dopamine, dobutamine, nitro, and heparin, as well as familiarity with CIWA assessments and alcohol/drug withdrawal treatments.
- Additional Information: The RN must complete Alaska RN fingerprints during onboarding to be cleared for work. The unit specializes in cardiac and medical-surgical patient care, utilizing bedside monitors, IV pumps, heated humidity high flow oxygen, Bipap, chest tubes, tracheostomy management, feeding pumps, and surgical drains. Daily duties include physical assessments, intake and output monitoring every 4 hours, safety rounds, patient positioning, and bedside handoffs. The assignment runs from 09/15/2026 to 12/15/2026, with every other weekend shifts and potential delayed start shifts based on census.
