Registered Nurse / Progressive Care Unit

Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse in a Level II Trauma Center located in Bangor, ME. This role involves providing specialized care to patients with a variety of medical, surgical, cardiovascular, neuro, and trauma-related conditions. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a diverse patient population, supporting a team of healthcare professionals committed to delivering high-quality patient care.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights, shift hours are 12 per shift, with a minimum of 48 hours per week. The assignment runs from 10/20/2026 to 01/16/2027.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid licensure, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale); experience with Neuro/Trauma patients including stroke care, craniotomies, seizures, and trauma. Experience with Medical/Surgical patients, high-flow oxygen management, trached patients on vents, and cardiac drips.
  • Preferred Qualifications: AACCN (American Association of Critical-Care Nurses) certification, CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse).
  • Additional Information:
    • Experience in charge nursing, phlebotomy, resource nursing, and ICU training are advantageous.
    • Skilled in documentation with Cerner system, use of Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and GE monitors.
    • Floating to Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Coronary Care Unit (CCU), and other departments may be required.
    • Support staff include CNA, charge nurse, RT (Respiratory Therapist), hospitalist, PT/OT, and IV/VAT team for US-guided IVs and PICC/Midline placements.
    • Orientation includes general hospital training plus one day on the unit.
    • Scrub color is flexible; professional attire is required. Parking is free in designated areas.
    • This position involves rotation on weekends and potential call back. Time off approval should be discussed with the manager. Holiday staffing varies according to unit needs.
