Registered Nurse / Psychiatric Unit

Job Summary:
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in Des Moines. This position involves providing inpatient psychiatric care across various age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The role requires active Iowa nursing licensure, recent inpatient experience, and proficiency in de-escalation techniques. The facility expects candidates to float across campuses and work night shifts, with orientation scheduled for late September and mid-October.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shift, 8 hours per shift, minimum 40 hours per week from 09/28/2026 to 12/28/2026
• Required Qualifications: 15 months of current psychiatric or behavioral health experience, active Iowa (IA) license or compact/multistate license, recent inpatient experience with all age groups, active American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and a de-escalation certificate (MOAB, CPI, MAB, SAMA) preferred.
• Preferred Qualifications: Active de-escalation certification, recent/current inpatient experience, and experience with acute psychiatric patients exhibiting mental health illness and chronic behaviors including violence, aggression, and self-harm.
• Additional Information: Candidates must quickly interview via phone call or text, possess a valid drivers license, and have a skills checklist specific to psychiatric/behavioral health disciplines. Candidates with a home unit in geriatrics are preferred. The position involves floating across all campuses and working during some holiday periods.
