Registered Nurse / Intensive Care Unit Trauma

Job Summary:
Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intensive Care Unit Trauma in Madison, WI. This position involves providing high-level care to critically ill adult trauma, surgical, and medical patients in a fast-paced, 24-bed ICU within a Level One Trauma Center. The role requires hands-on expertise with advanced life support therapies, including ECMO and continuous dialysis, and active involvement in evidence-based research and emergency response efforts.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Day shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week, including every other weekend rotation and some holidays.
  • Required Qualifications: Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license, at least 2 years of ICU experience, Epic electronic health record experience, BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA, and pass Telemetry test with 80% or higher in two attempts, involving identification of lethal rhythms and dysrhythmias.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience managing arterial lines, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, blood products, ventilated patients, central lines, renal failure, IV paralytics, medication titration, and invasive monitoring like Pulmonary Artery Lines/Swan Ganz. Knowledge of infection prevention, arrhythmia management, and trauma-specific procedures is desirable.
  • Additional Information: The unit serves adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including ARDS, ECMO, sepsis, post-code care, GI bleeds, and post-operative management. Team members may need to float as required. Orientation hours are not specified.
  • Location: University Hospital, Madison, WI. Parking permit required; other transportation options available. The organization is a Magnet-designated facility and ranked Wisconsins #1 hospital, renowned for leading healthcare, teaching, and research.
