Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical Floor

Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse position located in Overland Park, KS. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced surgical specialty unit with a focus on postoperative patient management. The assignment offers a guaranteed 48 hours per week with a scheduled start date of 12/14/2026 and includes working night shifts.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week, from 12/14/2026 to 03/15/2027.
• Required Qualifications: Must have no minimum years of experience, valid nursing license, and current BLS certification.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in med-surgical nursing, understanding of post-operative care, procedural skills including ostomy management, NGT placement, Foley catheter care, central line management, wound care, IV starts, blood administration, and nutritional support.
• Additional Information: The unit is a high-paced surgical specialty area with a patient ratio of 4:1, or 5:1 with a patient care technician. The patient care team typically includes one technician for every four to five nurses. Equipment used includes Alaris IV Pumps, CADD epidurals, Pyxis medication dispensing machines, telemetry systems, EKG, bladder scanners, wound vacs, capnostream machines, and SCD Pumps. Documentation is managed through Medi tech. Staff flexibility includes floating to medical, surgical, telemetry, orthopedics, neuro, and bariatric units, with a floating policy to similar units.
