Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical Floor

Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse in a large medical facility located in Fargo. This role involves providing inpatient care to adult trauma, medical, and surgical patients, with a focus on trauma and orthopedic trauma cases. The position requires flexibility to float across multiple units and locations as needed, with rotations typically alternating between day and night shifts.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday. Schedule rotations may vary between three weeks of days and three weeks of nights, or all days or all nights in a cycle, based on unit needs. Self-scheduling is permitted, but guaranteed days off are specified in the contract with potential shift adjustments for balancing unit staffing.
• Required Qualifications: Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association; minimum of 2 years recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting (level 1 trauma center or equivalent) with at least 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience; active ND or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license; EPIC electronic documentation experience; ability to float to Medical Surgical units across multiple locations; must have experience working with adult trauma, orthopedic trauma, and wide-ranging medical/surgical needs; proficiency with inpatient equipment such as EPIC Computer Chart and AcuDose.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a busy level one trauma center; familiarity with the Hip Fracture Program certification; previous experience with Sanford Health is to be noted if applicable.
• Additional Information: The unit is a 32-bed adult trauma, medical, and surgical care department with a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:4-5 during day shifts and 1:5-6 during night shifts. Orientation includes specific training for adult trauma, surgical needs, and certification in protocols such as TJC Hip Fracture Program. All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility and adhere to navy blue scrub attire. Floating to units at Broadway, SMCF, or South University may be required as needed.
