Registered Nurse / Intermediate Care Unit

Job Summary:
Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position available in Wausau, Wisconsin. This contract opportunity provides a 13-week assignment starting on September 28, 2026, with a focus on stepdown, intermediate, and progressive care. The role involves working 12-hour day shifts, with scheduled hours totaling at least 36 hours per week, and requires resilience, adaptability, and independent task management within a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour days, minimum 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Wisconsin RN License, BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association or American Red Cross), at least 2+ years of experience in stepdown/Intermediate Care Unit with ventilator and trach experience, trauma level II experience preferred, ICU experience preferred, minimum 1 prior travel assignment required, Associate Degree or Certificate.
• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor`s Degree.
• Float: Float to all inpatient units as needed, typically to higher-acuity units.
• Additional Information: The unit is a 36-bed Med Surg Intermediate Care unit specializing in heavy telemetry, with patient populations including sepsis, trauma, alcohol detox, GI bleed, chest tubes, TBI, orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injuries, and stroke. Patients are managed with a patient ratio of 4:1. Candidates must be hardworking, resilient, adaptable to change, able to work independently, and complete tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Scrub colors are flexible.
• Holiday Rotation: Every other holiday.
• Shift Notes: 12-hour days.
• Beds: 22.
