Registered Nurse / Labor And Delivery Department
Job Description
Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse in an acute care setting. This role involves providing specialized obstetric care for mothers during labor, delivery, and postpartum, with a focus on promoting safe sleep practices and fostering strong team collaboration. The position offers the opportunity to work in a dedicated unit that values skin-to-skin care and minimal infant transfer, supporting optimal maternal and neonatal outcomes.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice nursing, ACLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross), BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), two years of obstetric nursing experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring) certification.
- Float: Float rotation may be required for NICU feeders and growers, contingent upon qualification and willingness.
- Additional Information: The unit features 10 private labor and delivery rooms, 2 antepartum rooms, and 1 operating room suite. Staffing includes a charge nurse, lactation counselor, unit secretary, maternity educator, nurse aides, and OB techs. On-call anesthesia is available with a 20-minute response time, and an in-house OB/Neonatologist is present. The facility supports strong team-work and recognizes its designation as a Safe Sleep Champion by the Department of Health & Human Services. The department does not accommodate neonatal nursery care; newborns remain with mothers in bassinets to promote skin-to-skin contact.
