Registered Nurse / Step Down Unit

Job Summary:
The Step Down Unit Nurse is assigned to a specialized area within the healthcare facility focusing on patients transitioning from intensive care or requiring a lower level of monitoring. Located in a dynamic clinical environment, this role entails providing comprehensive patient care to a diverse patient population, including elderly, cardiac, pulmonary, neuro, and pediatric patients. The position offers an opportunity to apply specialized skills in a fast-paced setting, supporting patient recovery and stabilization.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Licensure to submit; ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS; minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in relevant settings.
- Preferred Qualifications: ICU or Pediatric experience is preferred.
- Float: Float rotation may be required to other units including Emergency Department, Urgent Care, and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit as needed.
- Additional Information:
- Responsible for reading rhythm strips and reporting to providers, with telemetry monitored in the facility by tele techs using GE - ApexPro monitors.
- Charge nurses may take assignments; house supervisors do not.
- Nurse Aides are present with ratios of approximately 1:8-10 during days and nights.
- Equipment includes ventilators (CPAP, BIPAP, Vapotherm, Servo U, Hamilton ventilators).
- Orientation includes one day of computer and hospital training, followed by 1-2 days on-shift orientation.
- Must note if previously worked for the organization; previous employment must have ended at least 6 months prior to submission.
- The unit uses Cerner as the charting system.
