Registered Nurse / Progressive Care Unit

Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) registered nurse position located in an organization in Independence, Missouri. The role involves providing high-quality nursing care within a specialized unit overseeing patients requiring close monitoring and advanced assessments. The position offers a guaranteed 48 hours per week with a start date of December 14, 2026, and initially runs through March 15, 2027.

Job Details:

• Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications; experience with advanced assessment and critical thinking skills; management of vasoactive drips; Drip management experience.
• Unit Specifics:
  • Bed capacity: 36 beds with patient ratios typically 1:3, 1:4, or 1:5 with patient care technicians.
  • Patient care includes use of BiPAP, heated high-flow nasal cannulas, Alaris IV pumps, and Kangaroo feeding pumps.
  • Documentation system in use: Meditech.
  • Staffing involves full-time, part-time, and PRN shifts with rotating weekend and holiday schedules.
  • Floating policy requires PRN staff to float once per week; float assignments for full-time and part-time staff rotate based on schedules.
  • Patient experience expectations include bedside shift report, hourly rounding, and daily leadership rounds.
• Preferred Qualifications: A positive attitude and team-oriented personality.
• Additional Information: This position is located in a facility recognized as a Level 2 trauma center with stroke and STEMI (ST-elevation myocardial infarction) accreditation and is a certified bariatric center. The role involves participating in unit standards of care and adapting to a flexible scheduling environment with rotating holidays and float requirements.
