Registered Nurse / Post Partum Floor

Job Summary:
Lactation and Postpartum Nurse - Night Shift. This role involves providing postpartum and low-risk antepartum patient care in a mother-baby unit with a bed capacity of 23. The position requires caring for mother-infant couplets, assisting with breastfeeding, newborn assessments, and discharge teaching. The nurse will work within a team-oriented environment and support various clinical and operational functions to ensure quality patient care.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights shift from 1900-0730, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. The schedule cycle is six weeks, released two weeks prior, including weekend rotations every other or every third weekend. No on-call requirements; holiday work includes at least one winter and one summer holiday.
• Required Qualifications: Valid licensure and certifications including BLS (Basic Life Support), neonatal resuscitation program (NRP) - preferred, electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) - preferred. Minimum one year of mother-baby/postpartum experience and at least two years as a registered nurse.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with breastfeeding assistance, newborn care including vital signs, thermoregulation, hypoglycemia, bilirubin levels, neonatal abstinence syndrome Babies, newborn lab and phlebotomy skills, IV skills (adult), PKU testing, and ability to independently manage 3-4 couplets, provide discharge education, vaccinate neonates, and perform postpartum fundal checks.
• Support on the Unit: Receptionist/Human Use Coordinator (HUC) coverage 7 days per week until 0100, charge nurse in assignment with lower patient ratio, lactation nurses 0730-1600 daily, clinical nursing assistants, and nurse managers (day and night shifts).
• Technology/Equipment: EMR (EPIC preferred), IV pumps (Alaris), medication dispensing via Pyxis, floating capabilities to labor & delivery antepartum, recoveries, NICU NAS, and sit-through medical-surgical floors.
• Orientation: Three shifts with preceptors, including one night shift orientation.
• Additional Notes: Friendly, team-oriented culture with helpful and positive environment. Scrubs can be any color; hospital scrubs are worn in NICU. Parking is free.
