Registered Nurse / Hospice

Job Summary:
Hospice Nurse Practitioner - Bangor and Ellsworth, Maine. This full-time role involves providing hospice care in the home setting, with coverage across both locations. The position requires recent experience in hospice care, supporting a diverse patient population with chronic, acute, and post-surgical diagnoses. The role offers a busy schedule with a mix of weekday hours, on-call rotation, and occasional weekend work.

Job Details:

  • Shift Time: Days, 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with weekend and on-call rotation. The schedule may include four 10-hour days depending on experience.
  • Schedule: 8 AM to 5 PM, 40 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: RN license for the state of Maine, BLS certification, valid drivers license, and own vehicle for patient travel. Recent hospice care experience within the last year required.
  • Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Post-operative orthopedic surgeries, wound care, chronic and acute CHF and COPD, post-cardiac surgeries, genitourinary issues, IV antibiotic teaching, central line care, medication pre-fills, lab draws, and hospice services.
  • Support Within Department: Clinical manager lead support team and scheduling support.
  • Technology/Equipment: EMR system is Netsmart; IV pumps provided through vendor.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required based on census at the Ellsworth territory.
  • Orientation: One-week orientation provided.
  • Call Requirement: Overnight shifts from 5 PM to 8 AM, typically once every 3 to 4 weeks.
  • Holiday Expectations: Work may be required on major holidays such as New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
  • Other notes: Scrubs or business casual attire; travel driven by personal vehicle; onsite parking available at the office location when visiting the office.
