Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical With Telemetry

Job Summary:
The facility is seeking a Medical Surgical with Telemetry nurse for a night shift position in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role involves providing care to adult patients in a busy acute care environment with a focus on observations, admissions, and discharges. The nurse will work within a Level III Trauma Center that features a dedicated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and comprehensive stroke services.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week, with every other weekend rotation. Schedule is created six weeks in advance and includes the possibility of approved time off up to 7 days.
• Required Qualifications: Valid BLS certification; 2 years of experience in medical-surgical or telemetry nursing; experience with ostomy care, IV skills, drip management (heparin, insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone); basic medical-surgical skills; experience in observation units and high-paced environments; ability to document pain levels accurately; knowledge of EPIC charting system and GE monitors.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in admissions and discharges in a fast-paced setting; familiarity with telemetry monitoring; experience providing care for adult medical patients.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information: The unit emphasizes documentation of pain levels before and after medication administration, with the need for nurses to verify pain scores meet medication orders. The unit operates with a team of charge nurses, unit secretaries, hospitalists, RTs, and telemetry techs supporting patient care. Orientation includes a 4-8 hour initial training period and scheduled unit orientation sessions.
