Registered Nurse / Nurse Educator

Job Summary:
The Nurse Educator specializing in Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) is based in a specialty care outpatient setting within a 225-bed hospital. This role involves providing comprehensive diabetes education, consultation, and program evaluation across adult, geriatric, and pediatric patient populations. The position supports various outpatient clinics and occasional inpatient diabetes consultations, contributing to patient-centered care and education outcomes.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 0800-1630, minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: CDCES certification (which requires either Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Nurse (RN) credentials), Bachelors degree in Nursing or Dietetics, minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
• Preferred Qualifications: Pump training, experience with gestational diabetes, pediatric diabetes management, ADA-recognized DSMES experience, inpatient or acute care experience, rural healthcare exposure.
• Additional Information: The role involves delivering educational interventions using various formats tailored to patient needs, assisting in maintaining diabetes supplies, and providing support to clinical staff. The candidate must be self-directed, adaptable, organized, collaborative, and patient-centered. The education environment may include group and individual sessions across diverse age groups.
