Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical Floor

Job Summary
Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (RN) Wausau, Wisconsin. This position involves providing care in a fast-paced, post-surgical unit that accommodates pre- and post-operative adult and geriatric patients. The RN will work rotating 12-hour day and night shifts, with an emphasis on teamwork, prioritization, and efficient patient care management.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts, including days and nights, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Wisconsin RN license, BLS certification from AHA or ARC, at least 2 years of recent hospital Med Surg experience, trauma level II experience required, prior travel experience mandatory, Epic charting experience, equipment includes Epic EMR, Rovers for medication scanning, and Alaris pumps
  • Unit Specific Skillset: Post-surgical care for adults and geriatric patients in a 40-bed inpatient unit, with a high patient turnover of 10-15 admissions daily and an average length of stay of 23 days
  • Patient Ratio: Day/PM 1:4 or 5, nights 1:57
  • Additional Information: Float: float rotation may be required to inpatient units; On-Call/Call Back: eligible for 36 hours of low census unbillable hours, typically in 4-hour increments; flu and COVID vaccinations required during flu season with mandatory masking if declining vaccination; scrub color any color.
