Registered Nurse / Progressive Care Unit

Job Summary:
The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) based in Tucson, Arizona, is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care by following established nursing care plans. This role involves supervising licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, and orientees. The RN promotes patient and staff safety while engaging in assessment, care planning, implementation, and discharge education, contributing to positive patient outcomes in a dynamic clinical environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification prior to first shift; minimum of two years bedside clinical experience in a similar setting; appropriate licensing and registration for practicing as a registered nurse in the state of Arizona; no minimum experience requirements specified.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a progressive care or similar unit is a plus.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information: Performs nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission, develops individualized care plans, and participates in interdisciplinary team evaluations. Responsible for timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses. Engages in discharge planning and patient teaching from day one. Communicates effectively to support continuity of care and patient safety. Delegates and supervises ancillary staff to ensure smooth unit operations while maintaining safety and quality standards. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities after orientation. Demonstrates commitment to professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
