Job Summary
Progressive Care Unit RN Louisville, KY. This position involves providing high-quality nursing care in a mixed-acuity surgical trauma environment. The role requires delivering patient-centered treatments for a diverse patient population, working collaboratively with a dynamic healthcare team during night shifts.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid BLS certification, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, two or more years of Stepdown nursing experience, recent experience with blood administration, skeletal traction, drains, JP, chest tube management, wound dressings, wound vac management, wound care, Heparin infusion, high flow oxygen, stable BiPAP, and Tracheostomy care. Must have active nursing licensure and ability to work at least one 12-hour shift during orientation.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience on a mixed acuity trauma or surgical unit, proficiency with EMR Cerner, and familiarity with IV pumps (Plum ICU Medical, Sapphire for PCA), Sera Steady, Arjo lifts, and Kangaroo pumps.
  • Support within the Department: CNA support, receptionists, charge nurse, vascular access team, resource teams (Sepsis and Rapid Response), 24/7 hospitalist, specialist, intensivist, and units for education.
  • Orientation: 24 hours total, including one online training day, two in-person days, plus modules. Orientation includes a 12-hour shift at the end of week one and a 12-hour shift at the start of week two.
  • Float: Float to mixed acuity units; CAP preceptor acts as a traveler, including potential float to similar units.
  • Technology/Equipment: EMR: Cerner; IV Pump: Plum ICU Medical; Monitors: Phillips; other equipment: Sera Steady, Arjo lifts, kangaroo pump, sapphire pump for PCA.
  • Scheduling: Every other weekend; no on-call; holiday staffing as scheduled; RTO approved through the manager, especially around holiday weeks.
  • Other Notes: Scrub color is Galaxy Blue; parking available onsite with badge access.
