Registered Nurse / Intermediate Care Unit

Job Description

Job Summary:
An Emergency Department registered nurse in Baltimore, Maryland, is responsible for providing specialized care in a fast-paced surgical step-down unit focused on cardiac, vascular, and thoracic post-operative patients. The RN will work with high acuity patients, including those recovering from cardiac and vascular surgeries, with experience in managing patients with Mechanical Circulatory Support devices such as LVADs and post-heart or lung transplants.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per day, minimum 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: RN license, Basic Life Support (BLS), minimum of 2 years of cardiac open heart recovery experience, at least 2 previous travel assignments, strong surgical intermediate care experience, EPIC electronic health record system proficiency, ICU experience for management of high acuity IMC patients.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Critical Care Certification; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • Float: Float rotation may be required.
  • Additional Information: Candidates should have experience caring for patients who are 1 or more days post-CABG, valve repairs, or valve replacements. Responsibilities include monitoring patients with Mechanical Circulatory Support devices, managing recovery patients post-transplant or heart/lung surgeries, and handling high-acuity cases in a mixed care environment with a nurse-to-patient ratio typically ranging from 1:3 to 1:4 during shifts.
