Registered Nurse / Operating Room

Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Nurse position in FALLS CHURCH, Virginia. This assignment involves assisting with a high volume of surgical cases, including trauma, neuro, pediatric, transplant, and general surgeries. The role requires proficiency in scrubbing and circulating, working predominantly during night shifts, with weekend and holiday rotations as scheduled.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM); 12 hours per shift; minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (American Heart Association approved); 2 years of experience in a Level 1 trauma setting; at least 1-2 previous travel assignments; proficient in neuro, trauma, pediatric, transplant, and general surgical procedures; experience with Epic electronic medical records; able to navigate complex surgical cases including neuro, trauma, pediatric, transplants, and procurements.
• Preferred Qualifications: Neonate & pediatric experience; trauma experience.
• Additional Information:
  • Experience with orthopedic including total joints, organ transplants (kidney), ENT, oral/maxillofacial, vascular/thoracic, urology, and pediatrics.
  • Weekend shifts usually include 5 to 6 rooms on Saturday and Sunday; urgent cases may be scheduled on Sundays.
  • Night shifts involve managing 2 operating rooms with typical case loads of 60-80 cases per day.
  • Weekend rotation and holiday coverage required, including at least one holiday per schedule.
  • On-call expectations: 3 times per week, as scheduled.
  • First to float for emergency support to other ORs, if needed.
