Registered Nurse / Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular

Job Summary
An Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH) nurse position is available in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized critical care for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery patients in a Level II Trauma Center with advanced technology and dedicated support staff. The position offers a night shift schedule with flexible contracts of 36 or 48 weeks.

Job Details

• Position Type: ICU OH Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular, Milwaukee, WI
• Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: 3 years of ICU experience with 1-year CVICU experience, valid BLS and ACLS certifications, EPIC experience, and current licensure.
• Preferred Qualifications: CCRN certification, specific CV surgical experience (ECMO, CVVH, IABP, VAD).
• Responsibilities include managing invasive line monitoring (Swan Ganz, a-lines), pacemakers (epicardial, transvenous), chest tubes, cardiac medications (inotropes, vasopressors, sedation/paralytics), ventilator/trach management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
• Support within the Department: Charge nurse, 24/7 HUC, dedicated CVICU intensivist, on-call CT surgeon, onsite hospitalist, and ICU designates.
• Technology/Equipment: EPIC electronic medical record, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, GE monitors, and unit-specific equipment.
• Orientation: 1 day of orientation plus 2-4 hours of NEO with supervisor/nurse educator; subsequent placement with a preceptor.
• Scheduling: Every other weekend rotation; 1-2 holiday assignments per contract; approval for up to 7 days of RTO; no on-call required; shift hours 0700-1900 or 1900-0700; 6-week schedule cycle.
• Additional Notes: Scrub color is solid and professional; free parking available; shuttle service for day shifts; attached parking structure for night shifts.
