Job Summary:
Surgical Technician / Operating Room Technician in a healthcare facility located in Grand Junction, Colorado. This role involves supporting surgical teams to ensure a safe and sterile environment during operative procedures. The technician will assist with preparing operating rooms, managing sterile fields, and responding to emergency situations under the supervision of registered nursing staff.

Job Details:

  • Maintains accountability for ensuring the operating room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria.
  • Maintains the sterile field and ensures a safe environment.
  • Recognizes and addresses sharps and fire safety processes.
  • Prepares the operating room and instruments for the surgical procedure.
  • May assist with sterile processing.
  • Assists the surgeon(s) during the procedure within the Operating Room Technician (ORT) scope of practice.
  • Can identify emergency situations and exercises judgment when implementing procedures to respond to emergencies.
  • Assists with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for the next procedure upon completion of the procedure.
  • Schedule: Evening shifts, 3x12-hour days, variable shift hours. On-call and weekends are required.
  • Required Qualifications: Two (2) years of surgical technician experience, completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) program or graduated from a non-accredited surgical tech program within six (6) months, or two (2) years of scrub tech experience within the last three (3) years. Valid Colorado License (DORA), NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist, and BLS (AHA) certification are required.
  • Required Skills & Experience: Demonstrates knowledge of sterile field management, surgical services, sterilization processes, emergency response, and supervision within surgical services.
  • Preferred Qualifications: N/A
  • Required Certifications & Licensure: BLS (AHA), Colorado License (DORA), NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist or Certified Surgical Technologist.
  • Education: Completion of an accredited ORT program, graduation from a non-accredited program within six months, or two years of surgical tech experience in hospital/military surgical services within the last three years.
  • Experience: 2 years.
  • Minimum Experience (Years): 0.
