Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in Austin, Texas. This seasonal contract opportunity is focused on providing specialized care to neonatal patients in a high-acuity environment. The role involves working night shifts in a unit that prioritizes compassionate, family-centered care and utilizes advanced equipment and protocols to ensure the well-being of the most vulnerable patients.

Job Details:

  • Location: North Austin Medical Center, Austin, TX
  • Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Start Date: 08/17/2026
  • Type of Staff: Primarily RNs, with 1 clerk per shift; night shift staff are primarily Registered Nurses
  • Number of Beds: 97
  • Patient Ratios: 3-4 patients per RN
  • Staffing: 200 staff members in total
  • Equipment: Medfusion pumps, Alaris, Giraffe Incubators, GE monitors
  • EMR: Cerner PowerChart, Meditech
  • Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, minimum 2 years of Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit experience
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with travel nursing, prior NICU experience, familiarity with neonatal procedures such as ventilation, IV management, and medication administration
  • Unit Profile: The NICU is equipped with advanced technology to support neonatal care, including incubators, ventilators, and monitors, staffed by experienced providers committed to excellence in patient care. The unit emphasizes a friendly, outgoing, and compassionate personality fit, with a strict dress code requiring navy scrubs and no artificial nails or nail polish.
