Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH) nurse position is located in Peoria, Illinois. This specialized role involves working on a dedicated cardiac unit within an acute care setting, providing advanced care to patients recovering from complex cardiovascular procedures and conditions. The position requires a highly skilled nurse capable of managing complex patients with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

- Schedule: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Start Date: 08/17/2026
- Required Qualifications: Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; BLS (AHA) certification; at least 2 years of experience in a CVICU or Cardiovascular ICU environment.
- Preferred Qualifications: ACLS certification, CCRN or PCCN credentials are a plus.
- Unit Notes: The unit has 20 monitored private beds, caring for stepdown patients from ICU, TAVRs, Ablations, Watchmen procedures, and patients with complex cardiac conditions including ventilated and trached patients. The team manages equipment such as Swan Ganz catheters, external pacemakers, PICC, Midlines, central lines, and arterial lines.
- Skills and Experience: Must have a minimum of 2 years of solid CVICU experience with proficiency in interpreting strips, titrating multiple drips (dopamine, dobutamine, vasopressors, sedatives, insulin, heparin, and others), and working with ventilators and telemonitoring systems. The candidate should be comfortable floating within different levels of cardiovascular care and ICU units.
- Responsibility and Environment: The role involves working with a multidisciplinary team including charge nurses, house supervisors, PCTs, and monitor techs. RNs are expected to read patient strips and troubleshoot ventilators and telemetry. The unit operates with a 24/7 staffing model, including charge nurses and house supervisors.
- Additional Notes: Proficiency in all cardiovascular ICU components, including VADs and transplants, is preferred. The unit utilizes multiple advanced monitoring and support equipment daily. The position includes participation in rotating weekend, holiday, and call schedules.
